Ford Mk II Car Rally
Sunday 23rd July 2017
This special event will be a day when admirers of those classic treasures, Zephyrs, Zodiacs, Consuls and other models from the Ford stable of 1956 to 1962, can socialise with other enthusiasts and enjoy the sights and sounds of some unique vehicles which are in a class of their own.
To add to the day's many attractions ex employees of ED Abbott, coach builders of Wrecclesham, will be in attendance at an exhibition of some of the local vehicle producer's history to give their personal insights into their hands-on experiences of their creation and production. Abbott had pioneered the production of estate versions of both 'Z' models and also the Consul on the production line beside the railway and so stole a march on the mighty Ford production moguls.
Many of the cars on show will have a very local connection and visitors to the museum will be able to surround themselves once again with the kinds of classic luxury finish and accoutrements which seem to have vanished from modern car production. This event will be an opportunity to talk to the people who made the cars and to see for themselves what the creme-de-la-creme looks, feels and sounds like.
This event in a busy and varied summer calendar will take place from 10am to 5pm at the accredited Rural Life Centre which lies midway between Tilford and Frensham on Reeds Road just off the A287 three miles south of Farnham. For more information please call 01252 795571.
