Come and celebrate the joys of spring with Tilford Horticultural Society as they stage their first horticultural show of the year.
Our Car Boot Sales, organised by the Rustics, begin at 8am and end at midday, free to buyers! Sellers can set up from 7:30am. The Café is open from 8am today.
Find out old-fashion clothes washing with a mangle! There will be period toys to play with and of course the very popular rocket launching! The giant dolls’ house and period toys fascinate the youngest children, while others tackle the pole lathe and ‘milk the cow’.
Normal Museum admission charges apply.
The museum will be taken over by The Rustics, the Rural Life Centre’s very own volunteers, to show off their timber handling skills using their vintage tractors. They will be running the stationary engines and demonstrating how to make useable timber from newly felled trees using the Lucas Mill. The milled wood from last year has been used in new building projects on the site including a newly constructed shelter for the museum’s steam roller.
Activities will vary each month, but may include mini talks and tours to learn more about the museum and the stories it tells. There will be interesting demonstrations and usually you may be able to have a go! Sometimes there might just be an exciting extra features.
On Easter Sunday & Monday, join the search for chicks around the museum with our annual Easter Chick Hunt. Find a chick in the museum’s displays and win a prize.
It's an early start at the museum today as vintage tractors take to the road at 10.30am for the annual Vintage Tractor Road Run.
