Fantastic Fire Engines

This July sees the return of our ever-popular Fantastic Fire Engines event.

Produced in association with the Fire Service Preservation Group, Fantastic
Fire Engines brings together a collection of vintage and modern fire
appliances to the Rural Life Museum. Throughout the day volunteers stage a
variety of demonstrations around the Museum, from daring rescues to
firefighting, all using preserved vehicles and equipment.

There will be activities for children of all ages, from squirting water
with the fire hoses, to climbing into the seat of a vintage fire engine. We
are hoping this year to be able to include fire extinguisher demonstrations
that visitors can have a go at too!

Shiny red paint, polished brass, lights and sirens abound for this cracking
day out.
