July 21st : Super Saturday

This year we are introducing an exciting new event to appeal to all the family. Activities will vary each month, but may include mini talks and tours to learn more about the museum and the stories it tells. There will be interesting demonstrations and usually you may be able to have a go! Every month there will be a “Big Draw” art activity and other “hands on” things the family can enjoy doing together too. Sometimes there might just be an exciting extra feature, such as the “Teddy Bears Picnic” arranged for May. Watch the website for details of these special, bonus events.

July 22nd : Ford MKII Car Rally

Ford MKII Independent day 2017. A selection of MKII Consuls, Zephyrs and Zodiacs 1956-62 will be on display. All classic cars are welcome. A trophy will be presented for best visitors Classic Car. Come along and join us for a fun filled day.

July 26th : Activity Thursday

Find out old-fashion clothes washing with a mangle! There will be period toys to play with and of course the very popular rocket launching! The giant dolls’ house and period toys fascinate the youngest children, while others tackle the pole lathe and ‘milk the cow’.

Normal Museum admission charges apply.

July 29th : Rustic Sunday - Celebrating 40 Years!

The biggest annual event of the year, this festival of country life has lots to interest and entertain all ages. Children will love trying their hand at traditional crafts, riding on the steam train and there’s even a dolls house big enough for little ones to go into. The museum will be bustling with many stalls demonstrating crafts, delicious home-made food, a jazz band and a working steam roller. The children will also love watching the working blacksmith in the museum’s smithy. The reconstructed iron furnace and the wood yard will both be in action.
