Friends of the Rural Life Museum Summer Fair

Summer Fair Sunday 4th August, 2024

It is officially the Summer Holidays! Now is time for some family fun at the museum. Join us on Sunday 4th August, 2024 for a range of family activities.

Take a ride on the train or, if you prefer, a fire engine! There might even be a bus ride. Explore all of the exhibits and chat with the museum volunteers who maintain the objects around the site. Learn the stories behind Deek’s Cycle Shop, the School Room or the Dennis Collection and more. You can even watch disappearing crafts demonstrations.

Are you a competitive family? Test your skills by smashing crockery, playing skittles or trying to knock the dolly off the plinth in a healthy game of Aunt Sally.

Do you like handcrafted creations? Why not browse the food and craft stalls to see if you can find something to tempt you. Remember that food and drink is also available in the Garden Café. However, if you really want to make the day a family adventure use either the picnic area or the grounds to enjoy your own picnic.

Don’t forget to make your family outing complete bring along your dog. We are a dog friendly site although we do ask that they remain on their leads.
